Welcome to the Scholars Academy!

The Scholars Academy invites all first-time, first-year students interested in having a smooth transition and acclimation to MTSU. The program is designed to serve all students, with emphasis on the needs of first-generation, and/or students or color, and students from underrepresented groups, by providing them with resources and a supportive learning environment.

You are invited to apply to become a part of an elite group of first-time, first-year students- the Scholars Academy! The Scholars Academy hosts the Summer Institute, an early arrival program, two weeks before the start of the fall semester. In addition to participating in the Summer Institute, students are continually supported throughout their matriculation at MTSU.

Summer Institute

August 10-20, 2025 (Two-Week Early Arrival Program)

The Summer Institute includes academic workshops, team-building exercises, leadership training, and a comprehensive overview of campus resources. Scholars receive an introduction to all the colleges on campus with an extensive overview of our signature programs, majors, and minors. Summer Institute evenings are filled with social activities to foster a sense of belonging and community.

What Is the Cost?

MTSU will cover instruction costs, meals, and room and board expenses during the program for those who have secured on-campus housing. Students pay a nonrefundable one-time $75 application fee when applying.
