Scholars Academy Schedules & Information

The Summer Institute is an immersive experience designed to prepare scholars for success both academically and socially. Participants will engage in academic workshops, team-building exercises, leadership training, and gain a comprehensive overview of campus resources. Scholars will also be introduced to all colleges on campus, with in-depth insights into signature programs, majors, and minors.

Evenings during the Institute are dedicated to building community and connection through a variety of social activities. This year’s highlights include a field trip to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, featuring a guided tour and a hands-on songwriting session, as well as a fun outing to Dave & Buster’s.

Students will have the opportunity to hear from industry partners such as Nissan, Middle Tennessee Electric, Bank of America, and Ascend Federal Credit Union, providing valuable career exploration and financial literacy insights. Additional sessions will feature MTSU Deans, the Career Center, and various campus departments and student organizations.

Scholars will also participate in Student Success workshops covering study skills, note-taking, and time management. Each participant will be placed on a team led by 1–2 Peer Mentors, fostering collaboration and support throughout the program.

The Institute includes a wide range of recreational and social events such as a cookout and pool party, open gym sessions at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, a talent show, paint and movie night, and a mixer with outdoor games. The experience concludes with a celebratory Summer Gala and Awards Ceremony.
